Artist Statement

I have been making art for my whole adult life and a large part of my youth. My inspiration comes from nature and is expressed through the abstraction of form and color.

My present work uses media from various venues including: embossment, painting, encaustic and collage. I am most comfortable working on paper. I attempt to give form to the unseen yet omnipresent aspects of nature that reside in my unconscious and appear during the act of creation. While the work is abstract it often evokes the familiar feel of landscape and continually surprises me. Sometimes I see in it reflections of the ancient world, sometimes the colors of the southwest, or the hills of Tuscany or the plains of the Serengeti.

Painting is a wondrous journey.
